See what happens and remember, it’s just a thought. While writing this, May 2016, I’m thinking of re-introducing these ZL17 packages for the Netherlands with of course, the approval from SimHeaven. Instead, you can look at ZPhotoXP who offers ZL16 packages. But it must be said that SimHeaven no longer offers these “ZL” photo-real European packages. article/The+Condor+Corner/3218997/536522/article.The initial plan, besides many others, was to offer you an impression of the SimHeaven’s “France photo scenery”, but I found out that the Netherlands was also available in ZL17 quality, so I decided to go for my own country first. A week later, the Condor guys released Condor 2. After two years of work comprising 88 pages of text and images, I published the orientation to my website in time for the SSA convention in Reno. After waiting 5 years, I decided to develop a Condor Orientation document based on V1.1.5. I bought two for a pair of my students just last week.Īfter waiting 7 years for Condor 2, I am taking some credit for its recent release. Version 1.1.5 licenses continue to be available. There are actually reasons to not move to V2 for my purposes.Īll that said, if I were starting from scratch as a regular glider pilot wanting to fly an excellent glider simulation, I would buy Condor 2. I would have to completely redevelop all my V1.1.5 resources, since V1.1.5 files are not compatible with V2. There are a few added features including a controllable level of high overcast, variable length towrope, 1 or 2 persons in the Duo Discus, easier configuration of wave conditions, more detailed/realistic clouds, etc.Ĭondo 2 is not compelling enough for me to switch over from V1.1.5 for training purposes.
#CONDOR 2 SCENERY SOFTWARE#
The new platform should also help the software survive the evolution of operating systems for some time into the future.įunctionally, Condor 2 is almost identical to Condor V1.1.5. No more Pawnee or Super Cub, but it does have a Polish Wilga.Ĭondor 2 is developed on a more modern, more capable software platform that should allow larger (widerangle) screens/multi-screen displays and perhaps compatibility with virtual reality displays/controls. I can only hope ASK 21 demand is sufficient. Additional gliders will be sold individually, rather than in packs per V1.1.5. That said, the developers seem to be open to adding new gliders to the software. The training glider is an old Blanik L-13, which gives you an idea of how dedicated the Condor developers are to using the software for training. No aerobatic glider in Condor 2, but it does now have a two-place (Duo Discus). There are much more detailed ground features (roads, lakes that shimmer, RR tracks, towns with hundreds of buildings, lot more trees, etc.)Īll the gliders in Condor 2 are different than those in V1.1.5, with a wider variety.

Condor 1.x.x is the dramatically improved graphics. The biggest visible change in Condor 2 vs. This version includes a Duo Discus with option for two pilots.įor an extensive and detailed review of Condor 2’s features, go to Paul Remde’s website for a comparison of versions 1 and 2 –

I did like the extended set of gliders available with the basic program. Check with the Condor Club to see whether your soaring area has been updated as yet. sites) are all still only flyable in Condor 1. California, Nevada, Moriarty (and other U.S.A. In scanning through the Condor Club sceneries, I only found Seminole Lake and Nephi updated for Condor 2 (as of the date of this review).
#CONDOR 2 SCENERY UPDATE#
The biggest drawback, which should be rectified with time, is that Condor 1 scenery will not run on Condor 2, so if your favorite soaring spot isn’t found in the basic set of sceneries and tasks (all European), and no one has yet to update your favorite on Condor Club website ( ), then you must use the basic set of sceneries and tasks provided with Condor 2 – or you will still be running on Condor V1.1.5 (which is still a great flight simulator) in order to fly your favorite and/or local area. Operation and interfaces are as with Condor 1, but there have been a number of changes in graphics and planes available, as mentioned later. I have found this most instructive for my own flying, being able to practice slips, spins, low altitude rope breaks, and the like, pushing the envelope a bit from what I would do flying my own glider, and seeing the consequences of my actions.
#CONDOR 2 SCENERY SIMULATOR#
However, when we have non-soarable weather in Moriarty, I do enjoy opening the simulator and either flying a task or trying different maneuvers to see how the sailplane reacts in a simulated environment – much less risky than trying the same while flying.

I have now used it a bit, but do prefer the real thing (when not working on Soaring magazine). Soaring - November 2018 The Condor CornerĬondor has released Condor 2, which was on display at the SSA Convention in Reno.
